BNDES rules require three major components — out of blades, towers, hubs and nacelles — must be made in Brazil in order to qualify for state finance.
The access to BNDES' Finame financing is considered essential for turbine manufacturers to offer equipment at competitive prices for wind developers in Brazil, which has one of the world's lowest wind power prices at around $60/MWh.
Last year, Acciona announced plans to build a hub factory in the Bahía district of Simoes Filho.
In May, Acciona was handed a 210MW deal by developer Voltalia for two projects in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte.
The deal was for 70 of Acciona's 3MW AW3000 turbines. Of these, 29 will be the class 3 version featuring a 125-metre rotor, while the remainder will be the 116-metre rotor, medium wind versions.
