First Peruvian order for Siemens

PERU: Siemens has received its first order for turbines for installation in Peru, with the manufacturer set to deliver 32MW to Spanish developer Cobra Energia.

Siemens' SWT-3.0-108 model will be used on the wind farm
The German turbine producer has sold 11 turbines for an onshore plant near the city of San Juan de Marcona in southern Peru.

The wind farm will consist of eight SWT-3.0-108 turbines and three SWT-2.3-108 turbines. Both units will be installed at a hub height of 80 metres.

The blades and three of the nacelles will be produced at Siemens' US factories. The company will provide service and maintenance for seven years.

"With this order from Cobra Energia, we are expanding our wind power activities in South America. This is the first wind project for both of our companies in Peru and together we will provide clean, renewable power in a growing wind market," said Mark Albenze, chief executive of Siemens Energy Wind Power Americas.
