Speaking exclusively to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, EWEA chief executive Thomas Becker indicated the association is going to announce major changes to the way it conducts its operations and works as a business.
Becker said: "I would like our organisation to adjust to the new environment around renewables, which focuses on us being an industrial organisation — that’s what the membership wants.
"I want us to come with a strong political message. We must do less but do it better.
"I would like to service our shareholders and our members better than in the past. These changes are a result of the development of the organisation."
Becker, a former Danish civil servant who joined EWEA on 1 April, said these are tough times for the wind industry citing examples of cuts in the wind sectors in Spain, Romania and even in Germany. He said organisations in Brussels have to reflect this changing environment.
