GE to build nacelles in Brazil

BRAZIL: GE is expanding its manufacturing facilities in Brazil to produce nacelles for its GE 1.7-100 and GE 1.85-82.5 wind turbines.

The components will be built at the company's plant in the city of Campinas, São Paulo state, where it already produces hubs.

GE was unable to comment on how much it would invest in the new facilities.

The decision comes as all equipment makers in Brazil have to commit to tighter local content rules for turbines required to be included in the cheap Finame financing program that Brazil's national development BNDES.
