The acccident happened at the Yanzishan Wind Farm, Gongcheng Yao Autonomous County in the city of Guilin, according to the county government. Three people were buried when a 100-metre long earth-retaining wall collapsed, at the location 120-metres above ground.
Following this another collapse occured, burying seven, as rescuers tried to save the original three.
Five died despite medical efforts, and the other injured were receiving treatment at two different hospitals.
The cause of the accident is being investigated. The road to the wind farm, on which the accident occurred, is currently under construction.
The 49.5MW Yanzishan Wind Farm, approved to construct in April 2012, will have 33 1.5MW wind turbines. It is developed by Guodian Guangxi New Energy Development Company with a total investment of 489 million yuan. It is scheduled to be connected to the grid in December this year.
The Chinese wind industry's dubious health and safety (H&S) record continued last year, with eight deaths out of a global total of 12. In 2011, eight out of 11 workplace deaths occurred in China.
