LS Cable to supply 129MW Luchterduinen

NETHERLANDS: Korea's LS Cable & System has been contracted to supply extra-high-voltage submarine cables and connectors for the 129MW Luchterduinen project being developed in Dutch waters by Eneco and Mitsubishi.

LS Cable will deliver 25.7 kilometres of 150kV alternating current extra-high-voltage submarine cables and connectors to the project's EPC contractor Van Oord. Joulz, part of the Eneco group, will install the cables.

Offshore construction is due to start next summer, with commissioning of the 43 Vestas V112 turbines scheduled for 2015.

"The contract puts the company in an advantageous position for making inroads into the European wind power generation market," LS Cable said.

This is LS Cable's second contract to supply HVDC cables to an offshore wind power project in Europe. In February, Dong Energy handed the company a EUR 16 million order for cabling for the Westermost Rough project.
