GE powers new Mexico wind project

MEXICO: The first GE-powered wind project in Mexico has started commercial operations.

The project uses GE's 2.75MW turbine

The 22MW Santa Catarina wind farm in the Monterrey region, a joint venture between Comexhidro Viento, Next Energy de Mexico and Conduit Capital, is powered by eight GE 2.75-103 turbines.

GE has also been awarded a five-year contract to operate and maintain the project, which will service the municipal needs of six counties.

"We are proud to be part of the Santa Catarina wind farm and bring advanced renewable energy technology to Mexico," said GE's renewable energy business CEO Anne McEntee.

"This project marks the beginning of the potential our customers see for wind energy in the country."
