One of China’s first offshore wind farms, the Rudong inter-tidal project in Jiangsu province was commissioned in May. It boasts 21 Siemens 2.3-101 turbines, representing Siemens’ first fulfilled order for offshore turbines outside Europe.
Siemens supplied Jiangsu Longyuan Offshore Wind Power Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China Longyuan Power Group Corp. The contract between the two companies includes five years service and maintenance by Siemens.
Major turbine components were produced at Siemens’ Shanghai facility, where blades and nacelles are manufactured for both the Chinese and export markets.
