Guodian Power Development has been given permission to proceed with plans to develop a 300MW offshore wind farm in waters off the coast of the northern province of Hebei, near Tangshan city.
Approval was granted by China’s National Energy Bureau (NEB), allowing Guodian Power Development, which is part of the Guodian Corporation, to proceed with preliminary surveys. China’s largest wind power developer, Longyuan Power, is also part of Guodian Corporation.
The wind farm is to be built 15km off Yuetuo island (also known as Puti island), part of Leting county. The project will be developed by Guodian subsidiary, Hebei New Energy Development Company, and will be based around 60 5MW turbines. A 220kv offshore substation will be built as well as a land-based substation at Daqinghe.
Guodian Power Development says it aims to win final approval from NEB next year and to begin construct in 2014. Partial commissioning is currently scheduled for 2015.
As previously reported by “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Offshore, NEB has said it will grant development rights for 5.6GW of offshore wind capacity off Hebei province. First priority will be given to 4.3GW in the Tangshan city region, of which this project is a part.
