Areva develops St Brieuc supply chain

French companies educated on offshore technical standards

Turbine manufacturer, Areva, is making progress in its efforts to develop a supply chain to support its delivery of 100 M5000 5MW turbines for the Saint Brieuc offshore wind farm, being developed by Iberdrola and Eole-RES.

As part of its supply chain development strategy, Areva recently arranged for French companies to visit the German offshore wind supply hub, Bremerhaven, in order to educate them on the technical requirements and other standards that they will have to meet in order to win contracts. Areva has now launched a pre-qualification process for assessing suppliers.

Part of Iberdrola and Eole-RES’ successful bid for the Saint Brieuc project was the promise that Areva, as turbine supplier, will build two production facilities at Le Havre, one for blades and one for pods.
