The contract is for the Bassens I wind farm, in Wangerland, Lower Saxony, which was built in 1997 and currently uses 34 600kW Bonus machines. The new Siemens turbines will use a 113-metre rotor, making the machine suitable for medium speed wind conditions.
Installation is set for the end of the year. The deal also comes with a 15-year service agreement.
When the original project launched in 1997, Windpark Bassens was made up primarily of neighbours, tenants and farmers and owned 21 of the turbines.
Another 12 are owned by Bassens Windpark and Bürgerpark, in which more than 130 Wangerland residents have shares. And a single turbine is owned by the energy planning office, Ingenieurbüro für Energieplanung, in Oldenburg.
