A 147m jack-up barge has been completed by Polish shipbuilding firm, Crist, operating out of the port of Gdansk. The Innovation is the first vessel to be built for HGO Infra Sea Solutions, a Bremen-based joint venture established by Hochtief and GeoSea.
The vessel was unveiled last week, built to carry both turbines and foundations. It can install in waters up to 65m if it uses its leg extensions. It can carry up to seven 6MW turbines at a time or up to 12 3MW machines. Alternatively, it can carry two jackets up to 1,000t or two monopile foundations up to 1,300t.
The Innovation is the first offshore wind-specific vessel built by Crist, which specialises in building "technical" craft.
