Nordex wins 46MW American order

UNITED STATES: Nordex has secured an order for 19 N117 2.4MW turbines for the expansion phase of Exelon Wind's Beebe wind project in Michigan.

The contract will bring the number of N117 turbines at the site to 53 for a total installed capacity of 127.2MW.

Phase 1 of the Beebe project, which was completed in December 2012, was the first to use Nordex's N117 turbine, specifically designed for class III low wind conditions.

The new turbines will be built in Germany however, following Nordex's decision in June to close its nacelle manufacturing plant in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Turbine deliveries are scheduled to start in May 2014 with completion of the project due late that year. Nordex will be responsible for delivery, commissioning and testing of the turbines and for maintenance under a 20-year service contact.

"It's especially rewarding for us to have our N117 deployed in a location so well suited to benefit from its increased yields," said Nordex USA president and CEO Ralf Sigrist.
