Forewind, developer of the UK’s largest offshore zone, today began searching for a new chairman after Lord Deben resigned from the role.

Former UK environment secretary Deben has been appointed chairman of the UK government's climate change advisory body, Committee on Climate Change.

Forewind – a joint venture of RWE, SSE, Statoil and Statkraft – is developing Dogger Bank, an 8,660 km2 area in the North Sea and the largest of the UK’s Round 3 offshore development zones.

The developer’s managing director, Lee Clarke, said Deben’s departure was a loss to Forewind but would be a gain to the UK as "the nation moves into a critical period on climate change and energy-related issues".

A Forewind spokesman told “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Offshore that Deben would help executives from Forewind’s owner companies to find his replacement, and they hoped to have a new chairman by early next year.
