Leading German consultancy TÜV NORD has secured an open-ended contract to support Siemens Wind Power in maintaining quality control over its offshore wind turbines and their installation.
Beginning next year, TÜV NORD staff will undertake onshore and offshore inspections in Germany of a range of equipment associated with Siemens’ offshore turbines business, including lifts, cranes, hydraulic tanks and storage vessels.
The value of the contract has not been specified, but TÜV NORD has confirmed to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Offshore that the contract does not have an end date, indicating that it could prove a long-term deal.
In July, TÜV NORD announced it had been hired by Sinovel to oversee certification of its 6MW offshore wind-specific turbine.
