Four port logistics operators in France have formed a joint venture to promote their activities to the marine renewable energy sector.
The Eolhyd joint venture brings together port operator Agence Maritime de l’Ouest (AMO), hauliers Maritime Kuhn and Sogena, and logistics service provider Idea Maritime. Belgian heavy-lift specialist Sarens is also a member through its association with AMO.
Eolhyd member companies have a presence at all French ports along the Channel and Atlantic seaboards from Dunkirk to La Rochelle. However, the group will focus initially on Saint Nazaire, Brest, Saint Brieuc, Tréguier, Cherbourg, Caen and Le Havre.
These all lie close to zones selected for development in France's first and second offshore wind tenders. Turbine, blade and tower factories are under construction or due to be built at Saint Nazaire, Cherbourg and Le Havre.
The group's members are in close contact with the two consortia that won first-round offshore wind concessions (led by EDF Energies Nouvelles and Iberdrola), and with turbine manufacturers Areva and Alstom, AMO's president, Patrick Garnier, told “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Offshore.
AMO has been preselected by Areva to bid for haulage and other dock work.
