Work has started on installing the final 18 Repower 6.15MW turbines at C-Power's 325.5MW Thornton Bank project off the Belgian coast. They make up the third and final phase of the project.
Six turbines were erected last year. With all jacket foundations and cabling already in place, C-Power expects to complete the turbine installation work this summer.
The first 30MW pilot phase, consisting of six Repower 5MW turbines, was commissioned in 2009. The second phase of 24 Repower 6.15MW machines (148MW) followed last December. Total project cost is estimated at about €1.3bn, including electrical connections and refinancing of the first phase.
DEME, RWE Innogy, EDF Energies Nouvelles, the Marguerite Fund, Nuhma, Socofe and SRIW Environnement are shareholders in the C-Power consortium, which owns the three concessions around 30km off Zeebrugge.
