The first consent application for the 9GW+ Dogger Bank development zone is on track for August. A second application is earmarked for Q1 2014.

Combined, the two applications will propose the construction of four wind farms, each of up to 1.2GW capacity. A third consent application, for a further 2.4GW, is scheduled for submission in early 2015.

As previously reported by “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Offshore, developer Forewind’s first application will focus on the Creyke Beck A and B projects. Creyke Beck A is likely to be the first wind farm to be built in the Dogger Bank zone, with grid connection to be completed by either April 2016 or April 2017. Creyke Beck B will be later, with grid connection scheduled for 2019.

Forewind’s second consent application will focus on the Teesside A and B projects. Grid connection for Teesside A is expected by April 2017 and Teesside B a year later. Teesside C and D projects are also planned.

The cumulative environmental impacts of Dogger Bank’s development are not being ignored, according to Forewind. It has assumed that during peak development, up to six wind farms could be under construction simultaneously, with up to eight piling rigs in use at the same time. A maximum construction period of 20 years is also assumed.
