Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm Ltd has awarded Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL) a third major contract. SHL's vessel, Stanislav Yudin, will install the remaining 80 monopiles and 32 transition pieces at the 576MW project in Liverpool Bay.
Work will begin in May. The vessel completed installation of the first 80 monopiles in December 2012 and previously transported and installed the wind farm's two offshore convertor stations.
Stanislav Yudin will work alongside RWE’s Friedrich Ernestine, which has been on site this winter, undertaking drilling operations, grouting work and transition pieces installation.
Gwynt y Môr is due for completion in late summer 2014. The project is being developed by RWE Innogy (60%), Stadtwerke München (30%) and Siemens (10%).
