All major components for Gamesa’s 5MW offshore turbine have arrived at the port of Bilbao. They will be transported to Gran Canaria for installation at a quayside location in the port of Arinaga for a certification test.
The Spanish turbine manufacturer’s G128 5.0MW model features 62.5m blades. It reflects Gamesa’s efforts to gain a foothold in the offshore turbine market, currently dominated by Siemens. The design was accredited earlier this year, by Det Norske Veritas (DNV).
