Donald Trump has filed a legal challenge against the planned European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC). The 11-turbine test site is planned for a site off Aberdeen.
The £230m (€270m) project received Scottish Government approval in March. Last summer, six manufacturers formalised their interest in testing turbines at EOWDC by signing memoranda of understanding.
But the project has long been opposed by US property investor, Donald Trump. Trump International Golf Links and The Trump Organisation's petition has been lodged with the Court of Session in Edinburgh. It argues that the granting of planning permission and the lack of a public inquiry into the plans were unlawful.
Trump's opponents were critical of his latest actions. WWF Scotland director, Lang Banks, said it was "sad to think that Trump has nothing better to do that use his billions to try and undermine Scotland’s ambition of becoming a cleaner, greener, job creating nation." He added: "We hope the court sees through his bluff and bluster and agrees that giving the go-ahead to this development was the right decision."
