Seajacks Japan launched

Asian offshore wind market in vessel operator's sights

Seajacks Japan Ltd, a group company of Seajacks International Limited, has been established by Marubeni and Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ). The Great Yarmouth-based jack-up vessels operator sees Japan and the wider Asian offshore wind market as offering future growth potential.

The regional market could "grow to rank with the huge European market in the future," it says. Seajacks Japan will conduct sales and marketing activities there. Seajacks cites in particular, government backing for Japanese offshore wind as underpinning the buoyant outlook.

To date, Seajacks International has installed over 830MW of turbines in European waters. It is currently involved in the construction of the 288MW Meerwind Süd / Ost project in the North Sea. Seajacks itself was acquired by Marubeni and INCJ, in May 2012.
