Lincs opens for business

UK: The 270MW Lincs offshore wind project was officially opened today, three months after the last of its 75 turbines was installed.

The event was celebrated by local stakeholders, the community and members of the project team in Skegness, north-east England.

The Lincs wind farm is a joint venture between Dong Energy, Centrica and Siemens Project Ventures. Currently around half the 75 Siemens 3.6MW turbines are generating power as the commissioning work nears completion.

The team anticipates the whole site will be fully operational by the end of August.
