SgurrEnergy wins Chinese offshore support deal

CHINA: SgurrEnergy has a won a two-year contract to provide strategic advice and support for the development of the first offshore wind project in the Chinese province of Guangdong.

The UK-based renewable energy consultancy will be working with the Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute (GEDI) on its 198MW Zhuhai wind project, scheduled for connection to the grid in late 2014.

It will advise on site selection, design and layout, plus ocean hydrometeorology and will conduct an environmental impact assessment.

"Our knowledge and experience gained in China, together with our advanced technical capability in offshore wind from Europe, has been key in the success of this partnership with GEDI," said Cathryn Chu from SgurrEnergy's Beijing Office.
