The test facilities are part of a EUR 150 million investment in the wind business that was originally announced in 2011.
The test centre in Brande will cater for generators, bearings and nacelles, while the Aalburg facility will cater solely for blade testing, including the company's new 75-metre version.
Siemens said the Aalburg centre can perform highly accelerated lifetime tests (Halt) on components in its direct drive turbines. Halt can expose prototypes to higher loads than would normally be encountered post-installation.
Speaking about plans to develop the two R&D centres in 2011, then chief executive Jens-Peter Saul said further factories were planned in the UK, Canada, Russia and India.
