According to chief special inspector of the natural resources ministry of Belarus, Sergei Zavyalov, the draft version of the new programme has been submitted for approval.
The total costs of the programme are estimated at EUR 300 million, and the legal framework will be drawn up in the coming months.
The Belarus government has already started negotiations with turbine manufacturers, many of them believed to be based in Germany.
The majority of funds for the project are expected to be provided by the state, although some of the funds will come from private sources.
It is planned that the first pilot projects will be implemented in the Grodno region of the country, where up to 11 wind turbines with the capacity of 750kW each will be built.
