Preliminary data for BTM's list of the top 5 wind manufacturers for 2012 showed Vestas slipped down to second place in terms of 2012 capacity installed. Behind it was Siemens, which has moved up from ninth place.
The changes are believed to be due to the US market and the rush to install projects before the expiry of the production tax credit.
Another big change was the decline in worldwide market share for the major Chinese manufacturers. Goldwind, which was in second place in 2011 with 8.8% market share, has fallen out of the top five altogether.
Additionally, last year's number four, Gamesa, has also fallen out of the top five. It has been replaced by Enercon, which has moved up one place. Suzlon has moved up to fifth place.
