Exelon CEO Christopher Crane has told the Chicago Tribune that government support of wind power is threatening nuclear power plants and jobs.
"What worries me is if we continue to build an excessive amount of wind and subsidise wind, the unintended consequence could be that it leads to shutting down [nuclear] plants," he said in an interview published on Friday.
It is not the first time Crane has argued against wind. The company was expelled from the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) last autumn for campaigning against extending the wind production tax credit.
Chicago-based Exelon’s nuclear fleet is the largest in the US and third-largest in the world. Crane is from the nuclear industry.
