Vestas said the change takes effect from next week. The company also cut 90 jobs at the plant in November.
The decision comes less than a month after Vestas cut hours at its Windsor and Brighton blade factories in the state. The nacelle plant at Brighton is the only manufacturing plant where worker hours will not be cut.
In a statement, Vestas said: "We can’t speculate on how the production tax credit (PTC) extension will affect future employment levels at our Colorado factories. Vestas must remain flexible to adapt to changing market demands in 2013 and beyond."
Last week, the US voted through an extension to the PTC. However, many analysts believe America's wind market is set for a dramatic slowdown in 2013.
Amy Grace, lead US wind analyst at Bloomberg New Energy Finance, predicts 3GW of new build in 2013 compared with the record-breaking 12GW or so installed last year.
