Alstom wins EUR270 million deal for low wind turbine

BRAZIL: Alstom has won two turbine supply deals worth €270 million from developer Queiroz Galvao.

The Eco 122 turbine was launched last year

The company will supply Eco-122 2.7MW turbines to two projects located in northeast Brazil and maintain the machines for 10 years.

The turbines will be produced at Alstom's manufacturing plant at Camacari, Bahia, which opened last year. The factory is capable of producing 600MW per year.

Alstom president Brazil, Marcos Costa said Alstom felt the Latin American and Brazilian electricity market would continue to grow.

Alstom launched the 2.7MW Eco-122 turbine last year, claiming the 122-metre rotor to be "the largest in the 2-to-3MW turbine segment".

The machine, a variation of Alstom’s 3MW turbine and part of the same manufacturing platform, is designed for sites with low wind speeds where longer blades are needed to capture more power more effectively.
