The Tongyuan wind project, which is located on the west coast of Taiwan 120 kilometres from Taipei, is being developed by Infravest and WPD. The wind farm is expected to be commissioned in 2015.
KFW is to loan the developers €66.8 million with the total investment cost coming to €81.5 million. This the fifth project KFW has developed in Taiwan.
The bank did not state what turbines the wind farm would use although it is likely this will be Enercon's E92 2.3MW turbine. Enercon will also provide service and maintenance.
Enercon has installed over 100 turbines on Taiwan, mainly for five projects developed by German company Infravest. Its first project was in 2005.
In 2010, it won a 33MW order from Taiwan Power Company for three wind projects in Taiwan. The company installed six 900kW turbines and 12 2.3MW turbines with partner Chung-Hsin Electric & Machinery Manufacturing Corporation.
