RWE Innogy adds 34MW of German onshore wind

GERMANY: RWE Innogy has completed commissioning of its 20.5MW Titz wind project this week, on reclaimed land that was part of the company's Garzweiler open cast lignite mine in the Rhineland region.

The ten 2.05MW machines supplied by Repower Systems will generate around 55Gigawatt hours per year, equivalent to the electricity needs of around 15,000 households.

The project was developed with BMR Windenergie of Hückelhoven. The firm is also working with RWE Innogy on the 14MW Juechen wind farm being built on a reclaimed part of the Garzweiler mine. The project is due for commissioning at the end of 2012.

Juechen will have a total 13.6MW and use four Repower Systems 3.4MW machines
