Repower wins its biggest Australian order

AUSTRALIA: Repower has been handed a 131MW contract from Australasian utility Meridian Energy for a project in Australia.

Meridian has ordered 64 MM92 turbines for the Mount Mercer wind farm in the southern state of Victoria, which comprises around 25% of the country's wind capacity. The deal is Repower's largest in in Australia.

The Mount Mercer project was given approval in 2007. It will link to the grid at the nearby town of Ballarat.

Repower CEO Andreas Nauen described the deal as a "a landmark order". He added: "This reinforces our position as one of the leading players in the Australian wind energy sector, a key market for us in the years ahead."
