The company revealed yesterday that it had signed a purchase agreement for East Marine in Falmouth Harbor, in the town of Falmouth, Massachusetts.
Cape Wind chief executive Jim Gordon said the facility would employ 50 people, with training expected to begin in 2014, in time for the project's anticipated commissioning in 2015.
"We bought the marina because we want to be positioned and we want to show the financial community that not only have we put everything together on the construction side, but we also have the operations and maintenance side covered," said Gordon.
"Another reason we did it is we have a lot of confidence that we are going to be able to finance this project."
He added that the company was aiming to close project finance facilities for the wind farm, which is located in the Nantucket Sound, in the second quarter of 2013.
The announcement of the marina purchase came just a week after the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the fourth time ruled that project poses no risk to air navigation.
However, opponents of Cape Wind are already contesting the ruling. The Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound filed a motion on Wednesday in the US Court of Appeals in Washington, DC, against the FAA's finding of "no hazard".
