The 6,000 square metre assembly floor is laid out for monthly output of 15-18 nacelles and rotor hubs for the 2.5MW turbines destined for the Ukrainian market.
Technology from both this works and Fuhrländer's German works will go for a 50MW wind farm currently being developed on the Crimean peninsula, the German company said. This adds to a Ukrainian order for 20MW placed in May 2012.
In Germany, Fuhrländer expects to produce 150MW of turbines in 2012.
Ukrainian connection
The inauguration of the factory follows a recent revamp of Fuhrlander's board, including the stepping down of founder and chairman Joachim Fuhrlander.
Fuhrlander is being replaced by chief executive Werner Heer. Additionally, he has been joined on the board by Maksym Yefymov, general director of Ukrainian industrial manufacturer PJSC Energomashspetsstal.
Fuhrlander machines are also being used on the first project using MW-class turbines in Ukraine, the 25MW Novoazovskiy project in the Donetsk region near the Azov Sea.
