Vestas will supply 6 V80 2MW turbines for the Tallentire wind farm in Cumbria this month. The project includes a 10-year service agreement.
Since 2007, Vestas has sold around 190MW of V80 machines in the UK. The turbines hit the UK headlines in December when one of them caught fire during high winds at a Scottish wind farm.
The V80 dates back to 2000 when it introduced the turbine. Following this, the V90 and V100 sister models were introduced, offering an increased 90-metre and 100-metre rotor diameters and a choice between a 1.8MW or 2MW power rating.
