The order, which includes a 10-year service contract, is for 12 G52 850kW turbines be installed on the Meikle Carewe project. It is Gamesa's first UK order from RES.
Speaking about the deal, Javier Perea, Gamesa commercial, project and offshore managing director said: "RES has considered our G52-850 kW the best solution for this project and we foresee relevant opportunities for our G5X platform in this market."
Despite being one of the smaller turbines in Gamesa's range, the company is still selling them to smaller community-based project. Last month, it signed a deal to supply one of the machines to New York-based company Harbec Plastics. Gamesa has a licensing agreement with community wind developer Harvest the Wind to sell the machines in the US.
The sale comes as Vestas announced it was ceasing production of its own 850kW range. The company announced the decision, citing it no longer saw a market for 850kW machines.
