Van Oord completes Teeside foundations

UK: Marine contractor Van Oord has completed installation of the all the 27 monopiles for the 62MW Teesside offshore wind farm.

The project is being developed by EDF Energy Renewables 1.5 kilometres off the coast from Redcar.

Foundation installation began in and February, and with the last one put in place last week, has been completed ahead of schedule.

Van Oord is responsible for the project's foundations and sub-sea cabling and is due to begin the next phase of construction in the second half of June.

Eventually the project is expected to generate enough power for around 40,000 homes. Siemens is providing the 27 2.3MW turbines.
