The company said there was growing market demand for turbines capable of optimising power production from high-wind sites, particularly in emerging markets.
Knud Winther Nielsen, head of the commercial development of the V112 3MW, said in traditional wind markets such as Europe, there were not many high-wind opportunities left.
"However, in other markets, there are huge untapped high-wind resources and potential for high-wind specific turbines," he added.
Nielsen said there was potential for the machine to be used in the remaining high-wind segments of established markets such as the US, Canada and Australia, as well as other emerging wind markets.
