Ramboll will be assisted by Louisiana-based Keystone Engineering, whose remit will include ensuring that the design conforms to US standards and codes.
The third firm in the consortium is PMSS, which will provide health, safety and environmental (HSE) support.
Ramboll said the foundation design would be completed by summer 2013.
Ramboll business development director, Søren Juel Petersen, explained that the consortium is conscious that the US regulatory authorities that will be examining the design will not have had previous experience of approving offshore wind developments. As a result of this, they may be require additional information or documentation.
