China to finance multi-MW wind turbine development

CHINA: China had earmarked CNY 93.92 million yuan ($15 million) for wind power research and development in 2012.

The funds will be applied to develop transmission, blade materials and grid access technology. China's National Energy Bureau said there were 22 R&D projects in all.

It comprises nine tasks including key technologies for wind turbine power feature testing, wind turbine grid adaptability testing, power control testing, and wind farm grid access compliance testing.

Last February, NEB announced its 12th Five-year Plan for national energy scientific development from 2011 to 2015.

It stipulates the need to focus on the development of 6-10MW wind turbines and key components, and industrialize onshore and offshore wind turbines.
