Cirrus 1 will be completed this year near the town of Lubbock, in time to qualify for the Production Tax Credit, said Paul Thompson of Ascendant Renewable Energy, who helped arrange the deal.
The Texas project was bought from Wind Tex Energy. Construction started in April, said Thompson.
Investors include A-Tech Wind Power (Jiangxi), a generator company in China with ties to the rare earths business, and Shenyang-based CCWE.
Financial details were not disclosed. However, Thompson confirmed to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç that the project did not have a PPA.
The nacelles — and perhaps other components — will be imported from China.
