Dong names new chief chief executive

DENMARK: One of Europe's leading wind developers, Denmark's Dong Energy, has named Henrik Poulsen as its new chief executive.

He joins from Danish telecoms company TDC/AS, where is currently also chief executive, and replaces Dong’s chief financial officer, Carsten Krogsgaard Thomsen, who has been acting chief executive since the resignation last month of Andres Eldrup. Eldrup resigned after it emerged he had awarded members of staff bonuses worth 90% of their salaries.

Fritz Schur, chairman of Dong’s board of directors, said: "Dong Energy is a strong and well-run company that is enjoying significant growth in offshore wind and oil and gas production, in particular. Henrik Poulsen is exactly the right person to carry on the strategy."

Poulson said: "Dong Energy is a large, exciting company that holds a key position in Denmark’s transition to green energy. The company is experiencing rapid growth and still has huge potential, which I look forward to help realise."

Poulson will begin at Dong in November this year.
