Gamesa hires new North America chairman

UNITED STATES: Gamesa has appointed a VF Partners managing director David Flitterman as the new chairman of its North American operation.

In a statement, Gamesa said Flitterman will consolidate the company's US operations, including manufacturing and operations and maintenance. He will also be responsible for sales in Canada and in Central America.

Flitterman, who is currently based in Madrid, has spent the majority of his career working in finance and investment banking.

According to his LinkedIn profile he has also been managing director at Deutsche Bank and executive vice-president of Jakarta-based marketing company, Asia Sports Development. This is his first role with a wind-industry company.

Speaking about the appointment, Gamesa CEO Jorge Calvert said: "David brings extraordinary knowledge of the business, finance and institutional keys to the US market, all of which are crucial to continuing to tackle the challenges posed by the US wind power market."

Last month, Gamesa has won an first deal for a Canadian project. a 10MW order from Saturn Power to install a project in Ontario. The company has two factories in the US and an offshore facility in Virginia.
