State Grid 'in talks to acquire' AES wind assets

UNITED STATES: The State Grid Corporation of China has had talks with US power company AES about acquiring control of its US wind power business, according to reports.

According to , State Grid would acquire around 80% in the company's 1.3GW of US projects.

AES took its first steps into the US wind energy sector in 2004 with an equity investment in US Wind Force LLC. At the time the company had a 1.2GW pipeline, although none of the projects had been built.

Currently, AES owns US projects such as the 130MW Laurel Mountain project in West Virginia and the 524MW Buffalo Gap wind farm in Texas.
