Nordex signs Exelon deal for community project

UNITED STATES: Exelon has awarded Nordex a deal to supply 81.6MW of wind turbines to a project in Michigan.

Under the deal, Nordex will supply 34 of its N117 2.4MW low wind speed turbines to the Beebe project in Gratiot County. The turbines will be delivered in the summer.

Although Exelon has awarded Nordex the contract, the project is being co-developed by the manufacturer. The agreement was been made between Nordex and the Beebe Community Wind Farm last year.

Nordex said the project was initiated by a local resident Mark Hull. It is the first community wind project Nordex has co-developed.

Last month, Nordex  installed the first 2.4MW N117/2400  in northern Germany. The turbine, which has a record 117-metre rotor diameter, was launched at the EWEA 2011 event in Brussels
