Suzlon signs 3GW MoU in India

INDIA: Suzlon has signed a 3GW MoU to develop wind projects in Andhra Pradesh, on the east coast between 2012-16.

The MoU was signed with the state's government. It will include government facilitation in gaining planning permission and clearance while Suzlon will be responsible for developing the projects.

According to Suzlon, Andhra Pradesh is a key emerging wind market in the country, with medium to low wind sites suited to Suzlon’s S9X turbine range.

Suzlon CEO Tulsi Tanti said: "We are extremely pleased to sign this MoU with the Government of Andhra Pradesh. This not only reinforces Andhra Pradesh’s position as one of India’s emerging markets in wind energy, but also illustrates their commitment to power a low-carbon economy by embracing progressive policies to power rapidly growing economy of the state."
