The London Array consortium and cabling contractors Global Marine and Visset & Smit Marine Contracting have undertaken a review. This has led to the deployment of extra installation vessels, Visser & Smit’s Sternat 82 and Sternat 87 and Global Marine’s cable storage barge Explorer.
Global Marine’s Jan Steen, Atlantis and Sovereign have been taken off charter, and will be replaced in early spring, when the weather can be expected to improve.
London Array project director Richard Rigg said: "Installation of array cables has progressed more slowly than planned but with the help of Visset & Smit and Global Marine we have been able to repackage the work to minimise the amount of time spent on standby during the worst of the winter months and ensure it is completed on schedule."
