The Norwegian company has already built monopile foundation structures for the European Marine Energy centre in Orkney, Scotland as well as jacket foundations for the Alpha Ventus offshore wind farm in German waters.
NorWind commissioned Netherlands-based Ulstein group to design a vessel based on Ulstein’s Deepwater Enabler.
The customised version of Deepwater Enabler has been unveiled by NorWind and called Norwind Installer. The new vessel features a crane and is capable of installing four jackets or 24 piles or up to 12 transition pieces at a time.
It also boasts two large holds capable of carrying carousels for cabling or tidal turbine work. The new vessel is designed for year-round operation in seas of 2.5 metre wave height.
