Nordex announces 42.5MW Ireland project

IRELAND: German turbine manufacturer Nordex today announced a deal to supply, build and commission a 42.5MW project in County Tipperary for utility Bord Gais Energy, using 17 N90/2500 machines.

The project, Garracummer, was awarded under a framework agreement signed by the two firms in October that could see Nordex install up to a further 200MW of capacity between now and 2014.

Nordex has already built two projects in Ireland — the 22.5MW Knockawarriga and the 32.5MW Kilgarvan Extension — both for developer SWS Energy, which was acquired by Bord Gais in 2009.
